New dishwasher installation do yourself

Remove the cover on the wire connection housing. Thread the power cord into the housing, and make the three wire connections: green wire from the appliance cord to the green grounding screw, white neutral wire to white dishwasher lead, and black hot wire to black dishwasher lead. These connections are normally made with twist-on wire connectors wire nuts , but some appliances may have different methods for making the wire connections.

Replace the cover on the wire connection housing. Your dishwasher connector kit includes a dishwasher 90 that will serve to connect the water supply to the dishwasher. Installing the dishwasher 90 is the first step to hooking up the water supply for your dishwasher. Locate the water inlet fitting on the solenoid valve. Apply some pipe joint compound to the threads of the dishwasher 90 fitting, then thread it onto the solenoid valve.

The dishwasher connector kit also includes a braided steel water supply tube. Thread the coupling nut of the supply tube onto the dishwasher 90 fitting, and tighten with channel-lock pliers or an adjustable wrench.

This is a compression fitting that does not require pipe joint compound. Be careful not to overtighten, as it is possible to strip the threads. Turn the dishwasher right side up. Slide the dishwasher into place under the kitchen counter, feeding the power cord, the water supply tube, and the drain hose through the holes in the sidewall of the cabinet.

Line the appliance up to the center of the opening without pushing it too far back. Use the adjustable legs to raise and level the dishwasher, following the manufacturer's directions. You can unscrew the legs with pliers, if necessary, to bring the dishwasher up to counter height and level it. When you are satisfied with the placement of the dishwasher you can fasten it into place.

Open the dishwasher door to access the mounting brackets. Use the screws provided to fasten the brackets to the cabinet frame under the lip of the counter. Connect the end of the water supply tube to the water supply shut-off valve under the kitchen sink. In a new installation, you may need to install this shutoff valve on the hot water pipe. Turn on the shutoff valve and check for leaks. Also look under the dishwasher to check for leaks at the other end of the supply tube, where it connects to the dishwasher 90 fitting.

If you notice leaks at either location, gently tighten the fittings a little more. The rubber drain hose is usually already attached to the dishwasher. Step When you have a manual in your hand, what else do you need? The manual will guide you from scratch and will help you successfully install a dishwasher along with the steps mentioned above.

Also, to make a long-lasting installation, we recommend you to call a professional, get it fixed, and stay worry-free for years to come. When installing a dishwasher, you must keep in mind that the dishwasher hose plays a vital part in installing it successfully.

The hose needs to be perfectly placed to drain the water and to do its job effectively. If your sink is embedded with the garbage disposal, then connect the hose to the dishwasher water outlet on the disposal housing. Unfortunately, if you had not purchased a dishwasher before then, you might have to detach the knockout plug for the water flow into the disposal housing.

In order to effectively install a garbage disposal. Firstly, vacant the cabinets that are underneath the sink. Now push the tip of a screwdriver into the nozzle of the top side of the garbage disposal. Displace the temporary nozzle, which is present inside the garbage, with just a tap of your palm.

Now, insert the needle-nose pliers and pluck the plug inside. The last step is to hose the clamp at the end of the drain hose. Fix the end of the hose directly into the nozzle.

Now, ensure the perfect positioning of the clamp from the end of the hose. Grip it firmly, and screw the bolts tightly. First things first, to get started with a portable dishwasher, detach the old water drain hose and water inlet system from the dishwasher.

Now, swap the brass fittings with the new dishwasher that was included in the installation kit. Seal the water valves for sometime and shut down the flex line under the sink by rotating the nut anti-clockwise.

Now, assemble the tee fitting to the closed one along with the flex line and merge the steel braided line that goes from the dishwasher to the third connection on the tee. Well, if you already have garbage disposal placed, then things can get more comfortable. Now remove the wires from the terminal screws and tuck them out of the way. Locate the water supply.

Find out where the water supply is, usually under the washer. Disconnect the supply. Disconnect the water supply line from the water inlet by removing the nut. Remove the hose. Loosen the clamp and remove the hose to disconnect the drain hose from beneath the sink. Move the dishwasher. After disconnecting all the attachments, place a blanket in front of the old dishwasher, slowly lift up the old dishwasher and put it onto the blanket.

Prepare for a mess. Keep a towel ready with you because in this process of lifting up the old dishwasher and putting it onto the blanket, some water may spill out. If it happens, just wipe it with the towel. Clean the area. Now that you have removed the old dishwasher, clean the area where the old dishwasher was placed and where you have to install the new one.

Method 3. Position the washer. Position the new dishwasher on its back. Connect the hose. Connect the drain hose with a compression clamp. Attach the fittings. Wrap the water line connection with Teflon tape [7] X Research source and attach the degree brass fitting that is used to connect the water line, also known as a dishwasher Slide in the new dishwasher. Screw the front legs of the new dishwasher in so that you can easily slide the unit into place.

Meanwhile, have an assistant pull the drain hose through under the sink as you go. Connect the line. Connect the water line underneath the dishwasher to the dishwasher Arrange the cable. Pass the electric cable through the sleeve on the dishwasher and tighten the sleeve so that the cable can not be pulled out. Connect the wires. Now make all the electrical wired connections — ground wire to the green screw, white wire to white wire, and black wire to black wire.

Use wire nuts to secure the connection. Connect the new drain hose at its previous position. Method 4. Fill the line. Fill the water line by opening the hot water valve.

Check for leaks. Carefully check if there are any leaks. Test the connections. If any leaks occur, recheck all the connections and test again. Adjust the height. Adjust front legs of the dishwasher down and position it properly on a level. Attach the mounting screws.
